Missionary
Photo album belonging to missionary Matilda Paulson dating from the 1950s, with 250+ photographs of missionary's work at Pentecostal churches in Brazil. Many of the photos show church members, baptisms, some buildings, and church gatherings, many of them outdoors. Many photos are captioned and include the names of the various pastors and church members.
One of the larger photos shows a church with the name Calvario Pentecostal, taken in Catalao, Goias. Some of the village settings are very primitive. A small number of ephemeral paper items included. Album measures 8 1/2 by 12 inches. Album cover reads, "Bible Institute of Los Angeles. There is a note at the end of the album from missionary Albert Widmer. He states " ......She (Matilda) is a personal freind of ours and we know her as one of the finest and most successful pioneer missionaries in South America. She has pioneered over 30 indigenous congregations and she has worked more than several missionaries put together......We are very happy to know that missionary Paulson will be continuing pioneering among Latins in those parts, and we are sure that her ministry will be a success, as it has been in Portuguese speking Brazil." A number of the missionaries mentioned in the album can be found in the CONSORTIUM OF PENTECOSTAL ARCHIVES.
